Dental Services

The dentist’s office can be one of the scariest places for children (and adults too, for that matter!) but here at Kid Dental, we’re aiming to change that perception one child at a time! It’s our goal to encourage children to make the habit of visiting the dentist regularly for preventive care as natural as breathing, and we want them to consider Kid Dental as their dental “home.”

We believe that quality, reasonably-priced dental care should be accessible to every child and family in our community, but unfortunately that’s not always the case.

Many pediatric dentists in South Florida don’t accept Medicaid - but Kid Dental does! We also accept some other insurance plans and for those that don’t have insurance, we charge affordable reduced fees.

Kid Dental is the result of a collaborative effort with our partners at the Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. We renovated a 10,000 square foot building on our campus in order to accommodate the 5,000 square foot dental clinic, which will open to the public in 2011.

At our clinic, pediatric dental residents and third and fourth year students, supervised by NSU faculty members, provide gentle, reassuring dental care to children from as young as six months all the way up to 18 years. Our family-friendly clinic has a total of 12 chairs; 10 in fully-equipped dental lanes (many of them decorated with kid-friendly themes) and two in private, quiet rooms. The range of services provided includes consultations; check-ups and diagnostic services; preventive and restorative care and digital radiography. Record-keeping is chair-side and 100% paperless and all services are performed using state-of-the-art equipment.

Optometry Services

In collaboration with our friends at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry, The Eye Care Institute at Kid is a way for us to expand our services to the community. We plan to open the doors to this pediatric eye care clinic in the Fall of 2010, and it has one basic goal: to provide superior, affordable eye care to all children and their families.

We do accept insurance, including Medicaid and KidCare, but we are also aware that there are countless local families that cannot afford insurance. All are welcome, and we’re pleased to offer discounted rates if you are uninsured. Centrally located on the beautiful KID campus in Fort Lauderdale in a totally renovated 10,000 square foot building, the clinic is open five days a week, with 24/7 emergency care available.

Here, in a kid-friendly environment, third and fourth year students use state-of-the-art optical equipment to provide the ultimate in high-quality pediatric eye care. The students are highly-trained and knowledgeable and perform gentle yet thorough screening and testing services, closely supervised by faculty staff. The students’ number one priority is to ensure that their young patients receive no less than the very best. The Nova Eye Care Institute is the latest of five clinics under the university’s “Eye Care Institute” umbrella and this one boasts eight private exam rooms and testing facilities, as well as an optical laboratory and a dispensary, where you and your child can choose from an extensive selection of frames, which can be customized on-site. Your child will love their new glasses, and you can be assured that they are well on the way to healthy eye development and a lifetime of 20/20 vision.
